Trumpet 1:  A third of the vegetation destroyed

Rev 8:7 The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast on the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.

Hail

Hail represents judgment, trouble and war.

Exo 9:18  Behold, tomorrow about this time I will cause it to rain a very grievous hail, such as hath not been in Egypt since the day it was founded even until now.

Isa 28:17 Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.

Job 38:22-23 “Have you entered the storehouses of the snow or seen the storehouses of the hail, which I reserve for times of trouble, for days of war and battle?”

 

Fire

Fire represents judgment, purification and revealing of sin. It can also represent a certain class of angels

Ps 66:10 For you, O God, have proved us: you have tried us, as silver is tried. 11 You brought us into the net; you laid affliction on our loins. 12 You have caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but you brought us out into a wealthy place.

Num 31:23 Every thing that may abide the fire, you shall make it go through the fire, and it shall be clean: nevertheless it shall be purified with the water of separation: and all that stays not the fire you shall make go through the water.

1Pet 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found to praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

Jer 23:29 Is not my word like as a fire? said the LORD; and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?

 

Blood

Isaiah 34:5-6 “My sword has drunk its fill in the heavens; see, it descends in judgment on Edom, the people I have totally destroyed. The sword of the LORD is bathed in blood, it is covered with fat the blood of lambs and goats, fat from the kidneys of rams. For the LORD has a sacrifice in Bozrah and a great slaughter in Edom.”

Could this be the blood of the slayed angels in heaven? After the sword kills in heaven it decent to earth to slay Edomites.

 

Burn

The word "burned" is translated from the Greek word katakaio-G2618 which simply means burn. It gets more interesting if we look at the Hebrew counterpart of that word is seraph-H8313 which means burn or consume. At first sight there isn’t any difference between the English and Greek word meanings. A seraph is also a middle class messenger angel often named "burning ones", "flaming angel" or "fire falling from the sky". The Hebrew word often also points to sacrificial burning; and that was of course what the Golden Altar of which the coals are taken.

Exod 29:14 But the flesh of the bullock, and his skin, and his dung, shall you burn/seraph with fire without the camp: it is a sin offering.

Seraph is also closely related to the word 'sar' which mean prince. A prince is a servant or a king. So, all that combined makes it seem likely that Seraph angels are send for judgment. Not literal fire storms of burning coals. The verses give no information what it will really look like. There are all sort of speculations like atom bombs or meteor showers but that info simply can’t be proven from the 1st Trumpet verses.

A third of the earth

Earlier we saw that 'of the earth' is a reference to people that are in covenant with satan. So saints are not part of this third because they are in the light (rainbow) covenant.

Isaiah 26:20-21 “Go, my people, enter your rooms and shut the doors behind you; hide yourselves for a little while until his wrath has passed by. See, the LORD is coming out of his dwelling to punish the people of the earth for their sins. The earth will disclose the blood shed upon her; she will conceal her slain no longer.”

The people of the earth are not those who are in their rooms, the one that listen to God. The beast out of the earth is a leader that comes from among 'the people from the earth'. The beast comes from among the sinners

A third of the trees

Trees are leaders.

Daniel 4:20-22 “The tree you saw, which grew large and strong, with its top touching the sky, visible to the whole earth, with beautiful leaves and abundant fruit, providing food for all, giving shelter to the beasts of the field, and having nesting places in its branches for the birds of the air—you, O king, are that tree! You have become great and strong; your greatness has grown until it reaches the sky, and your dominion extends to distant parts of the earth.”

 

Judges 9:8-15 The trees went forth on a time to anoint a king over them; and they said unto the olive-tree, Reign thou over us. But the olive-tree said unto them, Should I leave my fatness, wherewith by me they honor God and man, and go to wave to and fro over the trees? And the trees said to the fig-tree, Come thou, and reign over us. But the fig-tree said unto them, Should I leave my sweetness, and my good fruit, and go to wave to and fro over the trees? And the trees said unto the vine, Come thou, and reign over us. And the vine said unto them, Should I leave my new wine, which cheereth God and man, and go to wave to and fro over the trees? Then said all the trees unto the bramble, Come thou, and reign over us. And the bramble said unto the trees, If in truth ye anoint me king over you, then come and take refuge in my shade; and if not, let fire come out of the bramble, and devour the cedars of Lebanon.

 

All the green grass

Isaiah 40:6-7 “All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field. The grass withers and the flowers fall, because the breath of the LORD blows on them. Surely the people are grass.”

Psalm 37:1-2“Do not fret because of evil men or be envious of those who do wrong; for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away.

One thing is clear if one third of the vegetation is destroyed it will cause major climate issues like sunlight being blocked by smoke. The reduction of farmland won’t do any good either. The Temple door has opened. Let’s join the morning service :)
