Trumpet 3: The great falling star

Rev 8:10 And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell on the third part of the rivers, and on the fountains of waters; And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.

A great star

As we saw earlier a star also has the meaning of an angel. So a great star is a leading angel. (Satan or Abaddon)

Alternatively, but less likely I think, it could be a meteorite crash.

Blazing like a torch

Same logic as the burning mountain found in the 3rd Trumpet. Satan is burning because he's under judgment. Perhaps the torch is a burring tree. A tree is a symbol for a person with authority.

Rivers and springs turned bitter by wormwood

Sources of fresh water. Living water. Water of the truth.

Wormwood makes this water bitter, undrinkable, and unfit for consumption. Living water will be turned into dead water. For example by injecting false doctrine which basically kills the truth. Or the more direct way, kill the source of water by for example destroying every place where the truth is taught.

Prov 5:1-4 My son, attend to my wisdom, and bow your ear to my understanding:  That you may regard discretion, and that your lips may keep knowledge. For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:  But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.

The strange woman is a strange teaching/religion.

And other interpretation would springs/water referencing to the amniotic fluid. Reproduction problems. Proverbs adds sexual immorality and emptiness. Little factoid: wormwood is used to make Absinth which causes a lot of emptiness. In a way this interpretation aligns perfectly with the previous one because if the truth isn’t given birth death follows.

1) Living water represents the truth of the Holy Spirit

2) Springs of water represent the truth of the Holy Spirit delivered locally

3) Rivers of water represent the truth of the Holy Spirit delivered from afar

4) The sea of water represents the false/briny doctrine of a different spirit,

5) Marshes or ‘bitter’ water represent deadly/putrid doctrine from a different spirit

Many people died

Likely many people get literally killed during the war(s), but I think it has a more symbolic meaning considering the all symbolic context. The people die spiritually because they drink bitter water - false wormwood doctrine.
