The threshing floor

2Sam 24:17 And David spoke to LORD when he saw the agent who smote the people, and said, Lo, I have sinned, and I have done perversely, but these sheep, what have they done? Let thy hand, I pray thee, be against me, and against my father's house
2Sam 24:18 And Gad came that day to David, and said to him, Go up, rear an altar to LORD in the threshing-floor of Araunah the Jebusite.
2Sam 24:19 And David went up according to the saying of Gad, as LORD commanded.
2Sam 24:20 And Araunah looked forth, and saw the king and his servants coming on toward him. And Araunah went out, and bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.
2Sam 24:21 And Araunah said, Why has my lord the king come to his servant? And David said, To buy the threshing-floor from thee, to build an altar to LORD that the plague may be halted from the people.
2Sam 24:22 And Araunah said to David, Let my lord the king take and offer up what seems good to him. Behold, the oxen for the burnt-offering, and the threshing instruments and the yokes of the oxen for the wood.
2Sam 24:23 All this, O king, Araunah gives to the king. And Araunah said to the king, LORD thy God accept thee.
2Sam 24:24 And the king said to Araunah, No, but I will truly buy it from thee at a price. Neither will I offer burnt-offerings to LORD my God which cost me nothing. So David bought the threshing-floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver
2Sam 24:25 And David built there an altar to LORD, and offered burnt-offerings and peace-offerings. So LORD was entreated for the land, and the plague was halted from Israel.

2Chr 3:1 Then Solomon began to build the house of LORD at Jerusalem on mount Moriah, where [LORD] appeared to David his father, which he made ready in the place that David had appointed, in the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite.

Gen 22:2 And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son, whom thou love, even Isaac, and get thee into the land of Moriah. And offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.

—> Abraham offered Isaac on, what later would become, the threshing-floor.

Matt 3:12 Whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

1Cor 3:15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

Chaff is part of the same plant as the wheat. It’s like pruning and refining gold.

Matt 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

Mark 13:24 But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,

Rom 2:9 Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;

Rom 5:3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;

Rom 12:12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;

Thayer Definition:
1) a pressing, pressing together, pressure
2) metaphorically oppression, affliction, tribulation, distress, straits

Tribulation is from the Latin word tribulum" - a threshing board to separate wheat and chaff.

Isa 28:23 Give you ear, and hear my voice; listen, and hear my speech.
Isa 28:24 Does the plowman plow all day to sow? does he open and break the clods of his ground?
Isa 28:25 When he has made plain the face thereof, does he not cast abroad the fitches, and scatter the cummin, and cast in the principal wheat and the appointed barley and the rye in their place?
Isa 28:26 For his God does instruct him to discretion, and does teach him.
Isa 28:27 For the fitches are not threshed with a threshing instrument, neither is a cart wheel turned about on the cummin; but the fitches are beaten out with a staff, and the cummin with a rod.
Isa 28:28 Bread corn is bruised; because he will not ever be threshing it, nor break it with the wheel of his cart, nor bruise it with his horsemen.
Isa 28:29 This also comes forth from the LORD of hosts, which is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in working.

The above verses teach that each type of harvest has it’s own type of processing. The processing is of limited duration
