Jesus; the mighty angel with the little scroll

Rev 10:1-3 Then I saw another mighty angel coming down from heaven. He was robed in a cloud, with a rainbow above his head; his face was like the sun, and his legs were like fiery pillars.  He was holding a little scroll, which lay open in his hand. He planted his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land, and he gave a loud shout like the roar of a lion. When he shouted, the voices of the seven thunders spoke.

The little open scroll is the Ketubah which can only be opened by the groom, Jesus. Revelation 5: the scroll is originally held in the right hand of "him who sat on the throne", which is clearly the Father. Jesus takes the Ketubah scroll from his father's hand in order to exercise its legal provisions, He speaks forth the seal judgments.

Things that identify the Mighty Angel as Jesus.

1- 1Thes 4:16   :“the Lord himself will come down from heaven.”

1- Rev 10:1      :“a mighty angel coming down from heaven.”

2- Rev 10:1       :rainbow on his head, face like the sun, pillars of fire

2- Ezek 1:27-28  :bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, color amber, fire from loin down. Glory of the Lord.

3- 1Thes 4:16    : He would give “a loud command.”

3- Rev 10:3       : He will give a “loud shout like the roar of a lion.”

1Thess 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

4- 1Thes 4:16    : “with the voice of the archangel.”  ---> The best man blowing the shofar. Groom is already down

1Thess 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

4- Rev 10:4          :“I heard a loud voice from heaven”

5- 1Thes 4:16     : “with the trumpet call of God.”

5- Rev 10:7    : “when the seventh angel is about to sound his trumpet.”

This raising of the dead will occur in accord with the “seventh angel” sounding his trumpet, which is the same as the "last trumpet" mentioned in 1Corinthians 15:51-52.

6- 1Thes 4:16   : “the dead in Christ will rise first.”

6- Rev 10:7    :“the mystery of God will be accomplished.”

In short, the raising of "the dead in Christ" IS "the mystery of God" that John recorded.

1Cor 15:51-52 “Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed—in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.”

Size of the scroll

Zechariah 5:1-3 I looked again—and there before me was a flying scroll! He asked me, “What do you see?” I answered, “I see a flying scroll, thirty feet long and fifteen feet wide.’” And he said to me, “This is the curse that is going out over the whole land; for according to what it says on one side, every thief will be banished, and according to what it says on the other, everyone who swears falsely will be banished.”

Rev 10:9-10 And I went to the angel, and said to him, Give me the little scroll. And he said to me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make your belly bitter, but it shall be in your mouth sweet as honey. And I took the little book out of the angel's hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.

Ezekiel 2:9 Then I looked, and I saw a hand stretched out to me. In it was a scroll, which he unrolled before me. On both sides of it were written words of lament and mourning and woe.

Exod 32:15-16 And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written. And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven on the tables.

Are the visions about the same scroll? The Revelation scroll is called tiny but the scroll of Zechariah is huge – 30x15 feet or 20x10 cubits; which is the size of the Temple porch from which judgments and proclamations were made to the people of Israel. During the wedding ceremony the groom read, pronounced, from the Ketubah scroll so this could be the place the wedding ceremony takes place.
