Science

On this page you will find scientific quotes/things and how they find support in the Bible. That’s it, just quick bits of info, no in depth analysis.

Pangaea - the super continent

Gen 1:9 And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together to one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.

The water was gathered into one place, a super ocean. Likewise the land was gathered into one super continent

Pangaea, Greek for ‘all land’. At that time only one huge continent existed. Click

Panthalassa, Greek for ‘all sea’. At that time only one huge ocean existed. Click

Things are happening in the scientific realm.  Scientists, biologists, people who are studying DNA and chromosomes, are publishing articles through the internet. If they were to publish through their universities, they would not get the next year's funding, and so they publish through an alias on the internet.

In Colossians, when Rav Shaul says "by Him, all things are held together", the scientific community has shown that a laminin protein holds us together. The image above is from their textbooks, the exact laminin protein in the sign of the tav. Science is saying that without the laminin protein, we'd be nothing more than blobs on the floor.

Eighth day circumcision

As this article (click) shows the eight day of a baby boy’s life is the ideal day for circumcision because the prothrombin is exceptionally high on that day. High concentrations of prothrombin cause faster coagulation/blood clogging which reduces blood loss.

On the third day the prothrombin level is exceptionally low; making it the worst possible day for surgery.

Age of the earth

This is vast subject of which whole books have been written. I’ll not even attempt to start proving old or young earth. But I’ll list a few interesting things.

Two calendars

Ancient Jews believed there are two calendars. Note that this view is much older than the old earth view of science. It means means the old and new earth views mean halfway because the total age of the universe is extremly old but the age of mankind is in the 6,000-13,000 year range.
- Calendar of man. Started when Adam was created. That shows we live 6,000-13,000 years since Adam was created.
- Calendar of God. A calendar of vast duration that started before the creation

Expanding universe

The following is based on the book “Genesis and the big bang” Click

Time in the universe isn’t constant. If you would place a clock on earth and another clock in a remote part of the universe and set the alarm on both clocks at the same time, there would be a huge time difference between both alarms. This is due to the fact that the universe expands. But the speed it expands in the center is different from the edges. So the theory put forward in the book is that during creation God experienced 24-hour creation days. But because He wasn’t standing on earth but in some remote part of universe the time on earth was far longer than the 24-hours. And because of the constant expanding the duration per day varied greatly.
Genesis doesn't say: THE first day era, but ONE era.

God just states 6 eras. They can chronological. But likely are not.

Day 1:

Hedean eon: 4,600-3,900 mya => solidification of earth's crust

Day 2:

Archeozoic eon: 3,900-2,500 mya - bacteria, blue-green algae & archaens start to oxygenate atmosphere

Day 3:

Early life

Silurian period -  405-425 mya

Day 4:

Sun and Moon.

Between day 1 and 2

Day 5:

Cambrian. 600-400 million years ago

Day 6:

(40 mya)

Nahmanides

Nahmanides aka Rambam lived centuries before modern science and its big bang theory emerged. So while his views align with moder science they do not originate from it. Where he got that wisdom?

Nahmanides taught that although the days are 24 hours each, they contain "kol yemot ha-olam" - all the ages and all the secrets of the world. Nahmanides says that before the universe, there was nothing... but then suddenly the entire creation appeared as a minuscule speck. He gives a description for the speck: something very tiny, smaller than a grain of mustard. And he says that is the only physical creation. There was no other physical creation; all other creations were spiritual. The Nefesh (the soul of animal life, Genesis 1:21) and the Neshama (the soul of human life, Genesis 1:27) are spiritual creations.

Nahmanides further writes: "Misheyesh, yitfos bo zman" - from the moment that matter formed from this substance-less substance, time grabs hold. Time is created at the beginning. But time "grabs hold" when matter condenses from the substance-less substance of the big bang creation. When matter condenses, congeals, coalesces, out of this substance so thin it has no material substance, that's when the biblical clock starts.

The universe is expanding, and with the expansion it is cooling as the initially concentrated energy becomes ever more "dilute" within the ever larger volume. Soon after the big bang, the energy level, as indicated by the ambient temperature, fell below the minimum value that allowed energy to change into matter as we know it. This transition value, the threshold temperature of protons and neutrons, marks the moment of what I refer to herein as quark confinement. After quark confinement, protons and neutrons-the building blocks of matter as we know it-could no longer form.

Nahmanides, in the year 1250, described the process with uncanny accuracy: the initial creation produced an entity so thin it had no substance to it. It was the only physical . creation ever to occur and was all concentrated within the speck of space that was the entire universe just following its creation. (This seven-hundred year- old insight could be a quote from a modern physics textbook.) As the universe expanded from the size of that initial minuscule space, the primordial substanceless substance changed into matter as we know it. Biblical time, he continued, starts ("grabs hold," in his words) with the appearance of matter.27 Physics, during the past twenty years, has come to agree with Nahmanides. Nahmanides writes that his teachers learned this account from the first word of the Bible, beraesheet, which means "In the beginning of." In the beginning of what, they asked? In the beginning of time was their conclusion.

Mitochondrial Eve

According to modern DNA research all mankind can be traced back to one common mother called ‘Mitochondrial Eve’.

Click on the line for the source article.

1987 - Mitochondrial Eve - Eve born 100.000-200.000 years ago

1998 - Eve's secret of growing younger - Eve was born 10.000-20.000 years ago

2003 - Mitochondrial Eve is 6000 years old

Archeology

If you take the Biblical timeline as civilization of mankind then it fits quite well with archeology. No exact fit, needs more research.

Early lifeforms had no sexe (sp?) But after a while male and female life appears.

X-chromosone

Y-chromosone

The Y chromosone is missing a side (side=rib in Hebrew) -> Adam and Eve

If the above was true would that make the creation of (Adam and) Eve symbolic or literal?

Job 26:7      He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing. => Gravitation

Job 28:25    To make the weight for the winds.  => Long before scientists knew, God said air has weight.

Job 38:31    “Can you bind (kashar) the beautiful (ma’adannah) Pleiades?  Can you loose the cords (moshekah) of Orion?”

=> Pleiades is a group of stars with fixed distance to each other. Gravitational bands.

=> kasher = tie or join together

=> mThe Hebrew word for cords is moshekah, which comes from moshak meaning to draw or drag.a’adannah = bonds, fetters or influence.

=> The Hebrew word for cords is moshekah, which comes from moshak meaning to draw or drag.

Genesis 6:3 My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.  => Medically accepted maximum age

Isaiah 40:22 It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain

o circle of earth => Earth is round.

o stretcheth out the heavens => Dispersing of the universe.

o as a curtain => Curved space?

Despersing of the universe:

o Job 9:8  Which alone spreadeth out the heavens ....

o Psalm 104:2 Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain:

o Isaiah 42:5 Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out;

o Isaiah 44:24  .... I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;
